Fox Forestry is comprised of experienced forestry experts who are passionate about the land and helping people enjoy it. We are happy to tell you more about ourselves, but here’s a little introduction…

tom fox

Tom started Fox Forestry in 1996 while still studying at the University of Maine. Since then, Tom has been dedicated to revolutionizing the forest management industry while serving the residents of Downeast Maine.

ben arruda

Supervising Forester

ben@foxforestry.com

Ben is Fox Forestry’s Supervising Forester. Born and raised in Little Compton, Rhode Island, Ben relocated to Fort Kent, Maine in 2009 where he attended the local university and earned an Associates Degree in Forestry, a  Bachelor of Science in Public Safety, and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, kayaking, and ATV riding throughout Maine and New Brunswick with his adventure buddy Zola, the black lab.  Though Fox Forestry keeps him busy, Ben finds time to volunteer as a co-contributor to GPS Trailmasters Development and maintaining trails with Star City ATV Club.

lewis marston

Forest Management Director

lewis@foxforestry.com

A Forest Management Director requires attention to detail and industry knowledge, Lewis Marston has these in spades.  Lewis was born and raised in the midcoast region of Maine and ventured west to attend Columbia College in Chicago. He has been with Fox Forestry for five years, and is a Certified Logging Professional. Being a local, Lewis will tell you that his favorite thing about his home state are its vast forest areas.  In his spare time he enjoys gardening, hiking, BBQing, and spending time with his family.

Adriana West

Operations Manager

adriana@foxforestry.com

Adriana is one of the newest additions to Fox Forestry as their Operations Manager.  Born and raised in Florida, she relocated to Maine in February 2019. The oldest of three girls, her background is in construction and yachting, specializing in logistics and marketing.  While she has numerous degrees under her belt, she is currently pursuing her Bachelors in Marketing. Her favorite thing about Maine is everything – the people, the weather, the food, and the culture.  When she isn’t studying, she spends her free time gardening, reading, and exploring the back roads, small towns, and the extraordinary views that Maine has to offer.

J. Benjamin Hutton

Forestry Specialist

benhutton@foxforestry.com

If you are looking for a Forestry Specialist, look no further than Ben Hutton. Ben is originally from Connecticut but has lived in Maine on and off for eight years while studying at the University of Maine focusing on a degree in forestry. Always up for new experiences and a chance to learn, Ben has worked for the Connecticut Forestry Service and the National Ecological Observation Network in Alaska. Ben loves the scenery and seclusion that Maine offers and enjoys hiking, motorcycle rides and working with his hands. He loves spending his free time with his lovely wife Lara and their cats Hero and Guppy.

Sage Dyer

Carpenter/LOGOSOL Consultant

sage@foxforestry.com

Sage is doing double-duty as both Carpenter and Logosol Consultant.  Born and raised in Downeast, Maine, Sage furthered his education at Unity College.  Prior to Fox Forestry, he worked in landscape design and custom carpentry on Mount Desert Island and in the surrounding areas.  Sage’s eye for design and functionality have proved that there isn’t anything he cannot craft out of wood.  His favorite thing about Maine is the fresh air, and he enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, camping, and relaxing in hidden spots off the beaten path.

Ben Hacker

Ben is one Fox Forestry’s Forestry Interns. Originally from Beverly, Massachusetts, he has lived in Maine for the last two years and is currently attending the University of Maine for forestry and surveying. Volunteering is incredibly important to Ben and he gives as much time as he can back to his school through the School of Forest Resources and the Office of Sustainability.  One of Ben’s favorite things about Maine is the amount of outdoor space, so naturally in his free time, he enjoys being outdoors as much as possible, listening to interesting and eclectic music, and hanging out with his cat Noelle.

Alex Glabau

Forestry Intern

alex@foxforestry.com

Alex is Fox Forestry’s other Forestry Intern. Alex has been a resident of Maine for the past two years, but was born and raised in Berlin, Connecticut and goes back as often as he can to spend time with his younger sister and the family dog, Macie.  He first became interested in forestry when he was an Eagle Scout and is currently a junior in the forestry program at the University of Maine, Orono. The seemingly endless wilderness is Alex’s favorite thing about Maine and when he is able to take a break from his studies, he likes to explore the surrounding areas, go mountain biking, and just relax and take in the scenery.

Ben Stein

Arborist

Ben Stein is Fox Forestry’s ISA Certified Arborist and Contract Tree Climber.  Along with providing expert arborist services for Fox Forestry, Ben runs his own contract tree climbing business, Bold Coast Climbers.  He graduated from the University of Montana with a B.S. in Recreation Management and a minor in Wilderness Studies.

Ben grew up in Pennsylvania, and moved up to Mount Desert Island 3 years ago.  He has worked in the tree industry for ten years, and is still thrilled every time he gets to climb into a tree and run a chainsaw.  Ben’s favorite things about Maine are the strawberry rhubarb pies in the summer, playing fetch with his dogs on the coast, and cranking up his wood stove on a cold winter morning.

Rip Van Winkle

Morale Manager/Good Boi

Rip is Fox Forestry’s Morale Manager and all around Good Boi.  Contrary to his name, you will rarely catch him napping (unless he has tired himself out).  Each morning, without fail, he rushes to greet the staff as they come into work.  Throughout the day, he makes his rounds through Fox Forestry, checking up on the staff and clients to make sure they are having a great day.  Rip never fails to nuzzle up under your hand to get that much deserved pat on the head or a scratch behind the ears, and is often indulged with belly rubs.  In his spare time, Rip loves exploring new scents, eating dandelion greens, and taking mid-day swims in the pond.
